Projects tend to fall into different categories in our brains.<\/span><\/p>\n

The super important and urgent projects that will get the adrenaline and motivation flowing (especially if you\u2019ve put it off UNTIL it has become super urgent! <\/span><\/p>\n

There are the passion projects that really excite and stimulate us, the ones that are fun, and the \u2018work\u2019 involved in them never feels like work at all.<\/span><\/p>\n

And then there are projects that are boring, take a long time and are just never a top priority.<\/span><\/p>\n

But they still have to get done someday…<\/span><\/p>\n

These kinds of projects can really take up too much real estate in your head over time and give you that constant sense of\u00a0 “there is so much to do”. So identifying them and finally completing them can be incredibly freeing.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m going to show you a great strategy to help you tackle these kind of projects without too much difficulty. I can\u2019t promise it will be fun, but you will get a very nice sense of satisfaction from doing it!<\/span><\/p>\n

A great way to tackle these kind of projects is to spend a bit of time on it every day until it is finished.<\/p>\n

If you try to tackle these kind of projects all in one day there might be so much resistance to getting started that you keep putting it off indefinitely.<\/p>\n

Also, spending an entire day on something that doesn’t feel super important (especially when you do have important things on your plate) can feel very demoralizing and even create more stress. Having a good sense of accomplishment and forward progress at the end of each day is important to keep productivity momentum going.<\/p>\n

Step 1: Choose your project<\/span><\/h3>\n

If you haven\u2019t already done it, create a <\/span>master list<\/span><\/a> of all your open projects and tasks.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

When you try to keep all your to-dos in your head, you are likely to forget some things, but more importantly, your brain will be constantly overwhelmed. Keeping a list outside your brain allows you to free up space to do the things rather than worry about them.<\/span><\/p>\n

Go through your list of projects and choose one thing you\u2019 have been meaning to do for a long time but keep pushing back because it is never THAT important.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The project should involve an activity that isn\u2019t too mentally demanding .<\/strong> Anything that requires you to be in a very focused state or a lot of creativity needs a different strategy.<\/span><\/p>\n

This strategy works extremely well for projects that you can easily get started with any time, such as sorting the files on your computer. You don\u2019t need to spend any time preparing for this task, you just need to decide to start.<\/span><\/p>\n

There are some projects are not very well suited for this strategy even though it might be a large and boring project. If there is a high cost for setup, such as painting a room (with all the preparation and clear up involved),\u00a0 it might be better to do it all in one go.<\/span><\/p>\n
